1.What is the difference between AIS 5G and AIS 4G? How faster is AIS 5G?
5G is superior to 4G in terms of the following :

SPEED With 5G technology, data transmission is 24 times faster than with its predecessor, 4G. 4K or 8K, or song album downloads can be done merely within a few seconds while mobile browsing becomes possible just in the blink of an eye, making your internet experience even more real-time.

LATENCY Since 5G latency is less than 1-10 milliseconds, it can be used to perform remote surgery and adopted in autonomous vehicles, factory automation or even unmanned remote construction.

CONNECTIVITY 5G technology supports a density of a million devices—10 times greater than before. It is therefore expected to be the main enabler for smart cities where countless sensors are employed in urban areas for water and air quality meters, city lighting systems, smart poles to connect with autonomous vehicles, etc.
2. How long will the 5G spectrum be valid?
The validity period is 15 years for all bands.
3. How is the frequency band used by AIS different from those by its competitors?
AIS 5G is in the 700MHz, 2600 MHz, and 26 GHz bandwidths—the greatest when compared with those of other operators. The bandwidths meet global standards, making them compatible with most devices currently available.
4. Why does 5G technology support only data use?
It’s the standard use of 5G technology.
5. Why does AIS 5G span across widest bandwidths?
As a company with the top market share in the nation, AIS seeks to address the growing demand of Thai people.
6. Why is 700 MHz more expensive than other bandwidths?
This bandwidth has the most extensive coverage.
7. How do various bandwidths differ?

5.Can AIS 5G customers use roaming services?
Yes. 5G Outbound Roaming on Swisscom, Switzerland, will be available from 21st February 2020 onwards.
Terms and conditions
- To use 5G Outbound Roaming, customers must be a local user of 5G (under the same terms and conditions of domestic 5G service).
- The device in use must support 3500 MHz 5G.
Service fees and packages
- The service fees and packages are the same as 4G’s
1.How do I send an SMS or MMS and make a call when using 5G?
You can send an SMS/MMS and make a call just like when you use 4G.
2.When I make an outgoing call on 5G while in motion and enter an area with no 5G coverage, what will be the status of my call?
Calls/ phone conversations can be made as normal.
3.What am I to do if the screen displays the 5G symbol, but the internet cannot be accessed?
Please check the status of your package. If it is not in use, try switching your device off and on.
4.Why am I unable to make a call even when the screen displays the 5G symbol?
Try switching your device off and on, and check if there is the VoLTE symbol appearing on the screen (for iPhones, the symbol appears as 4G when making an outgoing call). If no VoLTE or 4G symbol is found, please check if your current area has the coverage.
5.Why does my data allowance/ battery run out so fast, or why does my device heat up?
It is common for smartphones to heat up after use over an extended period of time, after 4K video downloads or after large file downloads.
6.Why does the screen display change the 3G symbol, making the internet slower, while I use 5G and there is an incoming call?
As 4G and 5G are technologies that support internet use, devices automatically shift to 3G temporarily when there is an incoming/outgoing call, and automatically go back to 5G after the telephone conversation.
7.5G used to work for me, but why can’t I access AIS 5G now?
  1. You may be in an area with no 5G coverage.
  2. Please check the 5G setting in your device.
  3. Please check if your package comes with 5G service.
8.What if data can be used, but the signal shifts from 4G to 5G and vice versa?
This can happen, depending on the service areas. At locations where 5G coverage is limited, smartphones will catch 4G signal to allow for seamless internet use. Once in the areas with 5G coverage, 5G accessibility will return to normal.
9.5G is switched on, but why does my screen display the 4G symbol?
  1. You may be in an area with no 5G coverage.
  2. Please check if your package comes with 5G service.
1.What if I would like to use AIS 5G but my smartphone is 5G-incompatible?

1.How is 5G SA different from or better than 5G NSA?
Here’s how 5G SA and 5G NSA differ: 5G SA (5G Standalone) is the 5G network mode that does not rely on the 4G network facilities whereas 5G NSA (5G Non-Standalone) is dependent upon the 4G network.

The major advantages of 5G SA involve its more efficient network slicing and remarkable speed improvements, thus minimizing network latency.
2.Is the speed of 5G SA higher than or similar to that of 5G NSA?
The upload speed is better, based on the test with the Huawei P40 Pro, which produced a maximum speed of 120 – 140 Mbps and latency of lower than 10 ms.

Remark: The speed and latency may vary according to the signal strength and signal quality in a particular area.
3.What is the network coverage of 5G SA and what has been planned for the network extension in nationwide?
- Currently 5G SA is available in Bangkok and circumferences and nearly all areas of the EEC region (Chonburi, Chachoengsao and Rayong)
- 5G SA will be available in all the 77 provinces across Thailand by the end of August.
4.What are the handsets compatible with 5G SA?
There are now two models of 5G SA compatible handsets available at AIS—Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro+.
5.Is it possible to use 5G in an area with no 5G SA signal?
Both the 5G NSA and 5G SA modes are activated on the Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro+. Here are the possible scenarios when the handsets are in use:
  • In case of 5G coverage area both 5G NSA and 5G SA, the 5G SA mode shall automatically be set for maximum network efficiency.
  • In case of 5G NSA coverage area, the 5G NSA mode shall automatically be set.
  • In case of no 5G coverage area, can enjoy 4G/3G/2G
6.Are 5G (NSA/SA) packages different?
Currently, the 5G package is not different.
7.What can I do if I would like to test 5G SA?
Customers who wish to test 5G (not limited to 5G SA) will get a FREE trial of 10GB 5G per month when purchasing a 5G handset. The free trial is valid until 31 December 2020.

Only customers purchasing P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ handsets from AIS shall be entitled to a 50GB 5G allowance per month.
